The bones in our feet make up around 25% of the bones in our entire body. When we think of health and well being we often downgrade or missthe all-important structure of our feet and lower extremities...in doing so we don't pay this area of our body the attention it deserves.
From a hygiene perspective, our poor feet suffer cooped up in footwear for most of the day that probably doesn't give our feet a due airing,

Last November, my partner and I went to the Atlanta Surgical Supplies Trade Show. Needless to say, after 10 years in business, I head for the best possible wheelchairs, shower chairs etc. But my partner, Jeremy had other ideas for me. He pulled me over to a counter where a man was selling brushes!. My only experience with brushes was the Mason Pearson lines, (which I have single handedly bought a gazillion for myself and all my grandkids) or the Fuller Brush fabulous line for the house.
To my pleasant surprise, I discovered the FootMate an amazing foot brush ! It looks like a commercial tub scrub brush, but colorful. Ok. I can now confess that its nothing like the foot brush I actually ordered from the info-mercials on TV which I put on the shower floor and moved my foot back and forth. The problem was, that it never stayed in one place, the top strap hurt as I brushed , and the bristles didnt get in between my toes.
Please, I definitely do not have a foot fetish! But I do form calluses quickly and am very prone to toe infections. Being pre-diabetic, it is also critical for me to keep my feet, and between my toes extraordinarily clean and keep the blood flowing. I also really like (and beg) my husband to rub my feet after a long day at work. He will do anything to keep me
vertical and working!
We ordered a sample of the Footmate. I took it home, and fell IN LOVE! The base of the brush is very stable and even has protrusions on either side, so you can stabilize it with your other foot (it also has suction cups underneath). The bristles are really thick and invigorating and can get in between the toes while giving a great massage. The kit comes with lotion to use that is antiseptic and moisturizing. There is no bending involved (therefore, no falling in the shower) and the brush does exactly what it is supposed to do. Clean and massage! There is even an enclosed hook, so you can lift it up and hang it on the shower wall, so no mold develops (problem with the other one). I do rinse it off after every use.
Why Im confessing all these things I dont know, but while Im at it, I will also confess that I hate showering. Dont get me wrong I do it, but its not my favorite place to be. (Unlike my husband who could practically live in the shower!) I mention this unknown fact, because now that I have the FootMate, I look forward to showering and using it. And the best is, I dont have to wait for my husband to come home and beg him for a foot massage!
